Telkom announced on Wednesday that it had chosen three talented content producers to appear on its video streaming service, TelkomONE. After the call for applications via the #OpenUpTheIndustry competition: joint winners Lisa Marie Pyanee and Gosiame Ntshole in the Comedy category; Brandon Olifant (Mobivela) and Patty monroe (Lifestyle), will each receive an injection of R100,000 to produce a complete web series.
Final projects must be projected on TelkomONE Platform.

Brandon Olifant, who won in the Mobivela category for his production, Crazy and homeless, commented: âWith Crazy and Homless, we aim to bring lots of laughs and fun; they will be two crazy homeless friends who revere lawyers and go through different and fun obstacles to achieve their daily goals. TelkomONE really did the most on this one, giving us young creatives a platform to showcase and share our work is truly applauded.
For the co-winner in the comedy category, Gosiame Ntshole, it was his original series, Going Viral, which caught the attention of the judges. Going Viral aimed to bring a lighter side to an otherwise dark topic, COVID-19 and received a positive response online and garnered over 100,000 views on a popular social media app: “When I started doing my series, I had this great vision. Now I have the perfect platform to extend it. I will improve the game in terms of what you can do with the online content. My goal is simply to break the mold, the rules and pretty much the internet!
Lisa Payne, comedy category co-winner and AFDA multimedia design graduate, is focused on adding more experience to her already decorated resume which includes a TV editor, producer and videographer. Speaking about her production and winning the competition, she said: âThe last line is a competition-based reality TV show featuring various comedians up and coming in the entertainment industry. You can expect a show that is fun, energetic, full of energy and laughter. Our goal is to entertain as well as give you something to say. I can’t wait for everyone to see it and I’m excited because it’s easy to have a brilliant idea, but without funding or a platform, brilliant ideas will just be that, a brilliant idea that will never see the light of day .
South African producer and performer, Patty monroe, won in the Lifestyle category for his submission titled Keep 100: “It’s going to show people a whole new side of Patty Monroe. I’m a fast and heavy moving songwriter / rapper / singer in the TV industry! I’m super excited for the next part of my trip and I’m on my way. can’t wait to explore this opportunity that comes from âKeeping it 100.â Viewers can expect to be directed to delicious, inexpensive, cool eateries as our cool guests unbox real, raw conversations you usually don’t hear. not every day; really keep it 100.
