Peaky Blinders Movie Will Begin Production Next Year, Creator Confirms


A Peaky Blinders feature film will soon be in the works and filming is expected to begin “within the next eighteen months”, the series creator confirmed today.

Just three months after Tommy Shelby held his own cremation and flew off to the horizon to start a new life, fans of the BBC drama were eager to see if series creator Steven Knight would stick to it. his promise of Peaky Blinders-movie inspired.

Well, today the Birmingham-born screenwriter delighted fans around the world by confirming that he is working hard to get a Peaky Blinders film and take off from the ground.

During an appearance on Heart Breakfast today (July 28), Knight said, “I can tell you there’s going to be a movie, a feature.”

And, when asked if the film was definitely confirmed, Birmingham-born Knight replied: “Yes, by me, at the moment.”

He even confirmed that he was close to finishing the script, adding: “I’ve almost finished writing it, and we’re going to shoot it…I’m setting up film and television studios in Digbeth to Birmingham.”

Knight also gave some insight into how long fans have been waiting for the film, telling the radio show, “Hopefully we’ll be shooting in eighteen months. And then, obviously, we put it together.

“I mean it will depend on distributors and things when it comes out. But I’m really looking forward to having a Peaky event where people can watch it together.


Knight didn’t reveal too much about the film’s cast, although he did reveal that some familiar faces would return.

He added: “And some new faces that will hopefully be quite surprising.”

Knight has toyed with the idea of ​​a Peaky Blinders feature before, with him once saying it would be a “very specific story” that is “based on a true World War II story”.

The sixth and final season of Peaky Blinders ended in April after nine years with the BBC.
