Lithuanian industrial production increases in August



Lithuanian industrial production saw strong growth in August, driven by strong output in the mining and quarrying and manufacturing sectors, preliminary data from the Vilnius-based Lithuanian Statistical Office (LS) showed on Thursday.

Industrial production grew 18.1% year-on-year. Mining and quarrying output increased 25.7% and manufacturing output increased 19.3%.

Production in the utilities sector fell 1.2%. Production increased 2.6% in the water supply and treatment industry.

Compared with the previous month, industrial production rose 3.5% in August. On a seasonal and working day adjusted basis, industrial production increased 15.3% year on year and 2.8% from the previous August.
